    This is one of the best overall books dealing with outdoor cooking which I have come across.  The approach is informative and provides many general ideas about the art.

Cook'n Ca'jun - Water Smoker Cookbook  Hamilton Industries, Inc. 1984

    If you really want smoke cooked flavor this book provides ideas and recipes which are wonderful.

Grill Lovers Cookbook W C Bradley Enterprises, Inc, 1985,

    Mostly recipes but very tasty results.

The Joy of Grilling, Barton's Education Series, Inc., 1988, ISBN 0-8120-5840-2

    Lots of good recipes and general information and cooking guides.

Smoke and Spice, The Harvard Common Press, 1994, ISBN 1-55832-060-1

    A great place to start!
