The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers . . .

The very foundation of The American Red Cross is its volunteer work force. The Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the Mission of The American Red Cross clearly state that the organization will be led by volunteers and will accomplish its work through the efforts of a voluntary work force. Today, over 1.3 million people volunteer with The American Red Cross nationwide. The ratio of Red Cross Volunteers to paid staff is approximately 45 to 1.

Here in Burke County our volunteer-to-paid-staff exceeds the national ratio, because many of your friends and neighbors believe in the Mission of The American Red Cross, and our Program Services; and they support the premise that "Help Can't Wait".

As part of The American Red Cross Family of neighbor serving neighbor, YOU too can discover the many rewarding service opportunities. As an American Red Cross Volunteer you will receive training that is second to none. So whether you have an hour a day, week, month or year, we have a place for you in our Red Cross family. PLEASE contact YOUR local Chapter office at 828-438-8844 to learn more about opportunities as an American Red Cross Volunteer.
